The Burgdorf Health Center is an outpatient ambulatory care center of St Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Our team includes 1 P/T ID MD, 1 F/T ID APRN, 1 P/T LPN, 1 P/T MSW, 1 P/T Pharmacist, 1 P/T MCM. We are located in the north end of Hartford which is a low-income area of the city, primarily African and Carribean American. We also have a large Hispanic population. We have a dedicated staff who enjoy working in that setting.

My unique opportunity was to be supported to attend the International AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa. This changed my entire view of the HIV epidemic. I am always now aware to think globally and act locally. I am also cognizant of the amazing medical care we can offer to patients in the USA, including the most up to date medications, lab tests, recommendations, etc. However, I will never forget the spirit I experienced in South Africa.

I provide care for about 200 people living with HIV and 25 people recieving PrEP. Most are low income, African American, and now the average age is over 50 (years ago it was 30's). We are a Ryan White Part B funded clinic.
