We care for the majority of uninsured & Ryan White-covered patients in the Oakland area, at EBAC (now formally called East Bay Advance Care, to protect patients' privacy, but formerly East Bay AIDS Center.) Please have your friend immediately call our main # 510-869-8400, & state that he needs a new patient intake & appointment. He will be set up with a social worker & benefits counselor to establish Ryan White & other coverage, & assigned promptly to see one of our excellent medical providers. If he has any difficulty getting an appointment, he can tell them that Dr Burack (I'm one of 2 co-medical directors) asked him to call.

I am a retired provider for PLWH. I have a friend in Oakland, CA, that was diagnosed with HIV yesterday. He is from Algeria and is in the US on a student visa. His parents in Algeria have disowned him and his uncle that he is staying with in Oakland also disowned him and threw him out of his house. He will need a Ryan White provider and a clinic that will offer ADAP enrollment and hopefully assistance in housing.
