Good morning,
I'm seeking contact information for a neurologist in the DMV area who is familiar with PLWH.
I have a client who is an HLTS recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's via brain MRI findings of diffuse parenchymal volume loss, most notably in the bilateral temporal lobes and severe in degree (incidental findings in ED when r/o CVA- pt had presented for slurred speech). I believe this may be a misdiagnosis, as diffuse parenchymal volume loss is not an uncommon finding in older adults who are long term survivors. Additionally, this individual has not exhibited any cognitive or behavioral signs of Alzheimer's. I've referred them to a neurologist in the area but would prefer them to be evaluated by someone familiar with brain changes in individuals who have been living with HIV >20+ years. Would appreciate a recommendation. Thank you in advance!
Best,
