Professional Bio

I have been working in HIV medicine since 1994 when I became a nurse as a response to the HIV epidemic that I was witnessing. It was affecting many of my friends and I could not sit by and watch. Went off the nursing school then NP school. My entire career has been caring for those living with HIV and in HIV prevention. You could say it was a calling and one that has been an incredibly fulfilling journey.  I have worked both in brick and mortar and in telehealth. I have also taught RNs and NPs over my career with various universities as well as teaching HIV in the Sacramento County Jail system. I love teaching and I am always excited when there is interest in HIV care. Oh and yes, I started a clinic in Western Uganda that focuses on all things medicine but with a special focus on HIV education, prevention and linkage.. Super proud of that work.  And my best job ever is being a mom to an incredible 31 year old son.. He is a good force in the world and I am so proud.
