Michael Roggelin officially joined Northstar Healthcare in January 2019. Prior to joining Northstar, Michael was the Director of Nursing of a 28 bed Correctional Treatment Center for the California Department of Corrections and a Nursing Instructor at Brightwood College located in San Diego, CA. He is a seasoned healthcare professional with 26+ years of nursing experience fulfilling various roles. Recognized for collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to make system changes and a natural aptitude for promoting patient centered care. Throughout his nursing career he was a witness to the impacts of HIV/AIDS, stigma, fear, and homophobia has on the community and was determined to have an impact.
Michael received his Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and his Master’s degree in an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program, with a specialization in HIV medicine at Duke University. Michael has a strong passion for helping patients maximize their best health and an affinity for men’s health and HIV disease. Michael currently is Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is credentialed by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as an HIV Specialist.
Outside of work Michael is acclimating to Chicago weather and enjoys traveling, the beach, hiking, reading, gaming, and his dogs.
