  • 1.  MPX and COVID Vaccines

Looking for some guidance or examples of what other folks are doing for MPX and COVID vaccinations.

    CDC -
    • People, particularly adolescent or young adult males, might consider waiting 4 weeks after orthopoxvirus vaccination (either JYNNEOS or ACAM2000) before receiving a Moderna, Novavax, or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, because of the observed risk for myocarditis and/or pericarditis after receipt of ACAM2000 orthopoxvirus vaccine and mRNA (i.e., Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech) and Novavax COVID-19 vaccines and the unknown risk for myocarditis and/or pericarditis after JYNNEOS administration.

When a patient is assessed for both vaccines during a provider visit, we can explain the rare theoretic risk and have a shared decision.

However, how are people managing this with "vaccine clinics" where admin would like a straight forward yes co-administer or no tell them to wait 4 wks after MPX vaccine for COVID booster/vaccine - which actually ends up being 2 months given the dosing schedule of MPX?

    Thank you!

My clinic is currently advising people to wait 4 weeks, but we are in primary care and don't really manage the situation you're looking at. But the healthcare center running the large vaccine clinics in my area is offering the COVID booster along with the MPX vaccine at their vaccination events.
